About Me
Software Engineer · SRE · Backend Systems
Hi, I'm João
I'm a software engineer with a deep focus on backend systems, site reliability engineering, and infrastructure. I spend most of my time building and operating services that need to be fast, resilient, and observable.
Over the years, I've worked across the full stack of backend engineering: designing APIs, building microservices, setting up CI/CD pipelines, containerizing workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, implementing observability with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, and improving networking and resiliency with Istio.
What I Do
My work sits at the intersection of software engineering and operations. I believe the best infrastructure is built by people who write code, and the best code is written by people who understand how it runs in production. That philosophy drives everything I do.
Day to day, I work with:
- Backend Development — Java, Kotlin, and Go for building services that handle real traffic
- Infrastructure & DevOps — Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Istio, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
- Observability — Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and structured logging
- Reliability Engineering — SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and toil reduction
- Cloud Platforms — AWS, GCP, and on-premise environments
Get in Touch
I'm always happy to connect with people who are interested in SRE, backend systems, or software engineering in general. You can find me on GitHub, LinkedIn, or reach out via email.
